Inspired by the Chinese mythical figure Monkey King, also known as Sun Wukong, Monkey Kingdom was launched on 27 Nov 2021. 2,222 Wukong-inspired NFTs were rolled out to the community and the entire collection was sold out within two minutes of the online launch.
The project rapidly ballooned into Hong Kong’s largest NFT release, entering a market primed for a continued push in the adoption of digital currencies and a burgeoning NFT industry.
Many Hong Kong and international celebrities, businessmen, actors, and influencers have all bought into the Monkey Kingdom NFT craze, including DJ Steve Aoki, Mandopop singer JJ Lin, actor Sunny Wang, Ian Chan from Hong Kong's boyband Mirror, and musician/entrepreneur Dizzy Dizzo.

Diamond Baepes is the second collection of Monkey Kingdom consisting of 2,221 uniquely generated pixel NFTs featuring female-looking Wukongs. They were airdropped to existing holders of Monkey Kingdom on Dec 31, 2021.
One of the aims of Monkey Kingdom is to have more gender representation in the NFT space which is predominantly male-dominated. The release of this collection helped to realise this goal.
